SMILE Newsletter 4/2/24

HELLOOOOOOO! It's ELECTIONS WEEK and our FINAL MARCH GLADNESS EVENT!

1. The leadership application has closed, thank you to all who have applied!

2. Elections will start at 7 PM on Thursday in College of Computing 016. It is important you show up a little before or right at 7 PM so we can get through the mini-meeting and elections as quickly as possible. 

Voting Guidelines:

• You are required to attend elections and are expected to stay for the entirety. We expect the meeting to end at 8:15/8:30 PM. Please let us know before Thursday if you have existing commitments at that time.
• To vote you must be present for the entirety of that position and candidates' presentations. This means that if you come late or leave early, you may miss one of the candidate's presentations and thus you cannot participate in the voting for that position.
• Voting will take place using a Google Form. This form is NOT allowed to be sent to members who are not at the meeting.

Elections Breakdown: 

• Candidates running will go into the hallway
• One candidate will come in and present for 7 minutes for the President and 5 minutes for the Executive Vice President.
• There will be a Q&A period with the candidate for roughly 5 minutes after they present (can vote to extend by 3 min)
• Members will then vote using a Google form.
• The winner will be announced, and the process will repeat for the remaining positions

• President:  Rachel Anderson, Peter Chapman, Joey Suhr, Pranati Yadlapalli 
• Executive Vice President: Peter Chapman (2nd choice position), Trisha Tambe, Pranati Yadlapalli (2nd choice position)

3. Volunteer for SEC’s March Gladness Casino Event THIS Friday from 11-2! This is our last March Gladness event so be sure to come out and volunteer to make your volunteering requirements for the semester!

4. Come out to the Morale Hiking Social on Saturday at 7am! We are going to the Cascade Springs Nature Preserve Trail. Be on the lookout for a carpool sign-up sheet in Slack!

4. Our End of Year Banquet is next Thursday (4/11)! Be on the lookout for more details! There will be food, celebrating the seniors and all of your hard work, and pieing of the president.
